Though chiropractors are often referred to as ‘bone crunchers,’ what we do is so much more.
Benefits of Chiropractic Adjustments
The human body is controlled by the nervous system and the spine. These two elements are where chiropractors focus most of their time as they seek to optimize the body’s energy, and make it most efficient. The spinal cord consists of vertebrae running down your back, and the spinal nerves which come off the vertebrae and supply the body with the energy it needs to move and function properly.
When the spine is misaligned, it causes a disconnect between the brain and the region of the body that the nerve ending is supplying. This disconnect can cause pain in the muscles, ligaments, tendons, or impair function to other organs and glands.
By seeking out treatment from a chiropractor at the first sign of pain, a person is able ensure their body is receiving the correct messages that the brain sends to the body.
How Chiropractic Works
A chiropractor spends years studying the functions of the body and how it’s all connected. When a patient comes in and is experiencing pain, the first thing a chiropractor does is examine the spine to see if a misalignment has occurred and can be what is causing the pain. Once any misalignments are corrected, the body is free to express itself more fully and work more efficiently.
If the major complaint is muscle pain, then our job as chiropractors is to find the source of the pain. Whether it be caused by a spinal misalignment, or something else, a deeper examination of the body will give us the answer needed to help our patients feel better and optimize their body function.
Whether you are an athlete or an office worker, a construction worker or a stay at home parent, the benefits of chiropractic care can be enjoyed by all.
